I struggled to concentrate on reading in August for various reasons, with my reading mojo stuttering, rather than disappearing all together. Given this and speaking to a friend and fellow bookworm, I chuffed I finished four books this month.
So here they are. The bonus is they are all from my to be read pile of books!
Non-Fiction
Undoctored by Adam Kay
Funny and deeply moving, this is a superb follow up to This Is Going To Hurt!
A Chip Shop in Poznan- My Unlikely Year in Poland by Ben Aitken
I love Ben Aitken style of travel writing, having read another book by him, The Grand Tour! He writes with humour and a love of the places he is visiting, as well as the people he meets. This is another wonderful read.
Fiction
The Second Sight of Zachary Cloudesley by Sean Lusk
I love any book that contains a hint of fantasy and this fitted the requirement perfectly.
The End of Men by Christina Sweeney-Baird
I loved this novel, though given the subject, I don’t think I could have read it during the height of the Covid Pandemic.
Here is hoping the books I read in September are as fabulous as these.
I’m glad Undoctored is as good as This is Going to Hurt which I really enjoyed. I did make the mistake of reading The Nightshift Before Christmas – it was far too slim and made me think it had been rushed out just to hit a Christmas market.
